Be there for the Closing

Written on March 13, 2008

OR DON’T!

Attendance is not required?

Although both the buyer and the seller usually attend the closing at the same time, their parts of the closing do not have to coincide. Many buyers will go to closing and perform all of their duties before the seller even arrives. The same may be true for the seller.

While you want to make sure that you are not creating scheduling problems for the closing attorney, if you tell him in advance there should be no problem setting different times for the seller and buyer to come to closing. Perhaps the seller can only come in during his lunch break and the buyer can only come in after 4:00. As long as you keep the attorney in the loop, this should not be a problem
